Hi @ashjob! Thanks for your comments π I see where you’re coming from, traditionally this photo would be in portrait but I guess I’m breaking the rules! The main reason it’s in portrait mode is because I wanted to fit the whole tree in and as previously mentioned I couldn’t move back any further to achieve that. I did take some landscape photos…[Read more]

I guess it boils down to personal taste! Thank you everyone for your helpful comments π @pkrohn, @yumarena, @sengupta, here is the updated version, cropped to hide that annoying leaf, one in black and white and one in colour. @pkrohn, unfortunately I can’t make the shades of black less strong without making the water droplets on the grass stand…[Read more]

Hi @gordonjames, thanks very much for those good points, I think I will try it both ways and see how it turns out! Your comments are invaluable! When I have managed to take another photo I will post it so you can see how well your suggestions turned out πCheck It Out

Hi again π @yumarena, thanks for giving me some good ideas here, I agree the blue colours in the sky seem to be the odd factor out, I will see what I can do about it πCheck It Out

@pkrohn, Thanks for your encouragement! I think in the view of comments made here I will try cropping out that distracting leaf in the corner! If the colours in the background are also distracting would you recommend putting it in black and white? I thought that the colours were a nice part of the picture but I’m willing to try any suggestions to…[Read more]

@yumarena Thanks for your comments π I agree a tripod would have improved this photo but at the time I didn’t have that option, if I were to be in a similar position again I would defenitly try to bring along a tripod! Check It Out

Haha that would be great @sengupta, but there was a huge shed behind me that stopped me from doing that! I agree I would have liked to do that though πCheck It Out

Thanks for your comments @sengupta, I like the second one best too, but I was worried it might appear too edited. Can I just clarify, do you think I should crop it so that the leaf in the corner is not visible? (I hadn’t noticed that distracting element so thanks for pointing it out!). Check It Out

Macro of lots of water dropletsThis is a photo I took last minute on a cold foggy morning when my battery was running out, my nearly empty battery enabled me to take the photo but I couldn’t change any settings so I have done a lot of editing on it. There are two versions here. Which do you like better and why? And what do you think I would do/…[Read more]

Thanks, @gordonjames, for pointing out those essential flaws, I was so wrapped up in what I could see that was good in the photo that I missed out on those important points you brought out!!!
There is not a lot I can do to improve this photo, but if I were to take the photo again, which I easily can, do you think it would be good to place a…[Read more] -

I am not a professional by any means but looking at this photo it seems to me that there is a lack of main focus. The photo I understand is meant to tell the story of these people coming to pray, but everyone is the same size and my eye can’t find anything to focus on. Maybe pulling our focus into one person or one element of the photo would have…[Read more]

@haneshsree I see your point, maybe it would help if the tree was a little closer to the fence! But if I went and took the shot again I would try to change the angle to fix this problem, thanks for your advice! πCheck It Out

Let There be Light.I was thrilled when I found this point of view, I like the silhouette of the tree and the light on the cattle yards. What do you think I could do, or could have done to improve this photograph?

Here is a link to the edited photo, http://www.lightstalking.com/members/zeephototaker/album/picture/24450/
I was able to make the background a little less dark and leave the wires distinct but because it was a foggy day the sky was basically white anyway so with my editing tools I couldn’t change that, so to get around the distracting light…[Read more]
