I almost kept the softness of original image. I have shot several other compositions, one better suited for a soft look. I will post that as well.
No, I didn’t add clarity but I did apply dehaze effect in lightroom.

Hi Rob, it’s been long time.
The problem is that’s the widest I could go at 185mm. Although, it didn’t feel that dark to naked eye but my camera showed that the scene is underexposed. I rely on inbuilt light meter.
I recently moved to Poland, but I didn’t bring my tripod with me.
Window was open.Well my hand is source of shake, of course

It was raining and late in evening so not much light to work with. Actually I didn’t notice the blurriness till you brought it to my attention. That explains why I can’t see details on petals. Thanks!

It was rainy day hence the high ISO. I tried with lower ISO but the images were pretty dark. I think I lost a lot of light to achieve the shallow depth of field.

I was raining/snowing all day and when I looked outside my window the water drop on those twigs looked way too beautiful to ignore.
PS: Posting in Shark tank after a very long time.

I like that you provided an intro to the region which also serves as an explanation as to why the log is bent and not straight.

The light was really an issue in this place hence the 640 ISO. But I didn’t know noise would be so dominant at such low ISO.

Yeah, I also noticed the grain.

I thought both leaves pointed to the bird. Your crop works better.

agreed but I am stuck with it. If I crop the image too much, noise becomes noticeable. Here is another crop where I tried to use leaf and bird in a symmetric fashion. Seems fine to me, don’t know if it works for others as well.

While we are sitting under our rooves, sunken in our own worldly affairs, we don’t even realise what is going on in the rest of the world. There is always a story which has this potential of making your problems feel trivial.
Thank you for bringing this story here.

So, I visited the Nikon Service Centre and the good people over there cleaned the lens with 100% pure alcohol.
It turns out there was no loss of coating or anything, just residue from sea water and whatever crap was in that lens pen. The lens looks like new.
Thanks everyone.
